Broken glass
by brian @ 12:10:03 - [perma-link]

Not sure how this happened. I had these lights on while I was painting.
Out of nowhere I heard the glass break. Must have been a temperature
shock, since it was about 50 degrees out here.

The Molecule
by brian @ 22:17:57 - [perma-link]

I can't believe I didn't post this yet. This is from the end of the
summer. I got this ridiculous towable "Molecule" to pull behind the
boat. Then called up some friends and off we went!

It was so much fun. The center part rides above the surface of the
water, and you spend most of the time skimming on the "atoms" at the
3 corners. The riders don't get beat up like on an innertube, where
every bump hits you somewhere uncomfortable, like in the back of a
Volkswagon. All of the chop passes underneath, and the big waves get
smoothed out over the 7-foot width. And it easily slides across the
wake.

So naturally we can pull it much, much faster. Check out the video.

Bert's new hangout
by brian @ 23:00:09 - [perma-link]

I've had this thing hanging in the basement, but this is the first time
any of the cats has voluntarily occupied it. Bert (pronounced like
"bear"...ironic...) Jumped up from the desk and was taking a nap until
we disturbed him.

Wonder what I did...
by brian @ 15:45:20 - [perma-link]

I've noticed this bruise growing over the last few days. I think it has
peaked. No idea how I got it though.

Too blurry...
by brian @ 16:12:59 - [perma-link]

...but I barely have a wifi signal and I'm sitting right under one of
the "wireless hotspot" signs.

STILL waiting to board...

Racing at Another Scale
by brian @ 01:02:26 - [perma-link]

I couldn't wait until we finished the basement to get my slot cars going
again. Instead of setting up the 1/32 track, I got this pretty rad AFX
scale set, the "International Super Challenge" with 16 four-lane layouts
modeled after tracks around the world.

For comparison, I pulled out one of the 1/32 scale cars. HO cars are
small. There isn't as much detail, and the crashes aren't quite as
spectacular as with the big cars.

But 4-lanes flat out rules. And some of these small cars are
ridiculously fast. And even at HO scale, a Dodge Charger sliding its
tail out around a long turn looks pretty cool.

Where does this wire go?
by brian @ 15:23:13 - [perma-link]

There are 3 wires in this grey sheath. One for brake lights and 2 for
the turn signals (I believe). It goes through the plug in the floor,
and... And that's about it.

Seems that my car has towed a trailer at some point. Whoever set it up
(or perhaps removed the hitch) left a bare 4 prong connector with 3
switched 12V lines, just hanging out in a confined space surrounded by
the body and bumper, which happen to be two really good grounds.

I think I've finally found (and now removed) the intermittant which has
been plaguing my electrical system for as long as I've had the car.
