New Scoreboard by brian @ 20:48:16 - [perma-link] I uncovered my slot car tables a week or so ago, and got it running again. The Carerra lap timer just wasn't cutting it anymore; I need more than 1 decimal point. So I did something about it. I found an old PS2-style mouse (well, Logitech trackball) and hooked up some wires to the switches inside. I connected each of buttons 1 and 2 to an IR emitter/detector pair, and aimed them at each other (through straws to cut out ambient light), so when the cars cross the beams, it triggers a mouse click. Over the last few days I hacked up a Tcl/Tk display for it, and now I have a much cooler scoreboard.
