Upgrading Perl by brian @ 13:21:54 - [perma-link] % argh you don't deserve this crap. (warning: if you are not a geek, skip this one) I'm upgrading perl to 5.8.0 on my imac. Again. Hopefully it will work this time. The previous time it broke CPAN. I just now figured out that it was the ReadLine library installed under 5.6, which is not binary compatible. So I deleted it and will reinstall after the build. The last time I used a binary package which just wouldn't build the DBD package for some reason. But since it was a binary, I don't know why. So today I spent a few hours building and testing and deleting and rebuilding on my powerbook to get it right. At least I hope its right; I don't have mysql on the powerbook, so I can't check that out until perl is "correct" on the imac. At least "argh" isn't dependant on perl.
