by brian @ 14:00:29 - [perma-link]

Construction (not just demolition) is underway. Its cool to see walls
going up. This room (over the garage) is going to be HUGE.

Who let the cat out?
by brian @ 14:23:12 - [perma-link]

Now don't go getting that stupid song in your head.

We were outside with Daisy and decided to let the cats out, too. They
like exploring, but I don't want the getting out unattended. Its a
beautiful day in Portland.

Who let the dog out

Here's Daisy, tied up out front. We've been out here for an hour or so
and she's loving it.

One more...

Just to prove it doesn't always rain here...

Out of gas
by brian @ 19:07:41 - [perma-link]

We ran out of gas. Our friend Josh is coming to rescue us. Gas stations
sure aren't as plentiful here as they we in Silicon Valley.

Oh well. Not the first time. And it probably won't be the last.

Mmm... Hot Cocoa
by brian @ 23:35:30 - [perma-link]

Connie made hot cocoa. And we used her fancy marshmallows (which, I have
to admit, are pretty tasty).

Upgrading Perl
by brian @ 13:21:54 - [perma-link]

% argh
you don't deserve this crap.

(warning: if you are not a geek, skip this one)
I'm upgrading perl to 5.8.0 on my imac. Again. Hopefully it will work
this time.

The previous time it broke CPAN. I just now figured out that it was the
ReadLine library installed under 5.6, which is not binary compatible. So
I deleted it and will reinstall after the build.

The last time I used a binary package which just wouldn't build the DBD
package for some reason. But since it was a binary, I don't know why.

So today I spent a few hours building and testing and deleting and
rebuilding on my powerbook to get it right. At least I hope its right; I
don't have mysql on the powerbook, so I can't check that out until perl
is "correct" on the imac.

At least "argh" isn't dependant on perl.

by brian @ 12:31:16 - [perma-link]

We're at Multnomah Falls takings Daisy to the top. To see if she can
swim.

Just kidding :)

Daisy needs a sweater
by brian @ 12:33:43 - [perma-link]

We have a couple, but didn't think to bring them, so she's inside
Connie's jacket. She's also keeping Connie warm.
