Giant sushi
by brian @ 09:06:34 - [perma-link]

I don't know if it is evident from the pic, but the sushi we ate last
night was HUGE. The unagi was about 7" long. The other nigiri were
easily 5". And soooooooo good and fresh!

Garbage Night
by brian @ 22:31:51 - [perma-link]

This is our paper recycling. Every week its at least one container full
of catalogs and other junk mail.

When I get older I'll sue them for repetitive back strain from lugging
30lb of unwanted paper (how many trees go straight to the recycling bin
each week? Lol!) to my curb week after week.

Oh the irony...
by brian @ 23:39:08 - [perma-link]

I found this is in the news today about a case challenging the Partial-Birth Abortion
Ban Act
. My favorite quote:

"I don't think it's possible for a single judge to sit in a courtroom
and substitute his findings for the findings of 435 congressmen," King
said, adding that some judges were imposing their personal views on
society.

And that is from a Congressman, mind you! (Steve King, R, Iowa (you
know, Iowa.. the state that gets to vote first!)) It seems someone
forgot to read the Constitution before he applied for his job. That's
what judges do.

And go talk to the FCC about imposing their personal views on society.
They seem to think they're the experts at it.

Megapixels
by brian @ 12:32:00 - [perma-link]

Connie got me a new camera a few weeks ago. Its a Sony DSC-T1, 5
megapixel with 3x optical zoom, and its smaller than, i dunno, a deck
of cards. My other camera is a cyber-shot U-20, another tiny Sony
camera but it is only 2 Mpix and no zoom. I took these pictures of
Oscar with both cameras (fully zoomed out on the T1) and
then cropped them down to just his face to compare the resolution.

And, well, the 5Mpix shot looks way better. Duh.

Daisy wants to go back outside
by brian @ 14:05:38 - [perma-link]

Daisy and I were out in the backyard for a while. We're going back out
in a few minutes. I'll sit out there with a laptop and reprogram our
lighting system. I lost a while days worth of programming when I tried
to fix a bug yesterday. It reverted back to a really old version. I have
no idea how.
