I hate traffic
by brian @ 17:42:17 - [perma-link]

I forgot how much rush hour suck. I'm on my way to play ultimate, and I
have to drive in 5pm traffic. At least I'm almost there.

What just happened?
by brian @ 08:06:27 - [perma-link]

I just plugged in the camera, and this thing reset and lost EVERYTHING.
No pictures, no email. NO SERVICE. No nothing.

And lucky me, I'm at the airport, so I'm screwed for a bit.

Wait. Service is back. Maybe it fixed itself.

At the terminal, waiting to board

But it was a close call. Connie got tagged by security for carrying a
Restoration Hardware multi-tool (flat, phillips, and torx drivers only),
and her extremely vicious eye-glass repair kit.

The security guy assured us that the San Jose police would destroy them,
and no one would profit from them. We had no checked bags, so we we
SOL. But he wanted to make sure we were OK with it. Even though we had
no choice. But as long as we're OK with it.

I guess its a Karma thing for him.

Portland bound

We're in the air. The captain has turned off the seatbelt sign, so I'm
free to move about the cabin and use my electronic device. Woohoo!

I've already flipped through the Sky Mall...nothing particularly
interesting. I didn't pick up a magazine at the airport, so there's not
a whole helluva lot to do.

Maybe I'll try for a high score on the "snowbored" game.

At least the terrorists will miss their planes

PDX security check is down to ONE FREAKING X-RAY MACHINE. Brilliant.

Wait, no. They are down to 2 machines, but one is for the express line,
and the rest of us get to share the other one. Needless to say, we
missed our flight. Barely.

So we're booked on the 8:20. Joy. 3 hours to kill in the airport. On the
OTHER side of security.

Killing time at PDX
by brian @ 18:44:17 - [perma-link]

Three hours is an awfully long time to spend at the airport. So where
better to spend it than the bar?

Obsidian Stout is pretty tasty, considering they didn't have any Bud
Light, though the food at Caper's Cafe leaves something to be desired.

Still in the airport

Man, this sucks.

I doubt this picture will come out. It's supposed to be oue reflection
in the window. But it's too dark. Whatever.

Only another hour or so until we start boring...I mean boarding. The
friggin' gate isn't even open yet.

Board games have gotten harder
by brian @ 23:05:21 - [perma-link]

My wife and I got a bunch of board games as a wedding gift. Tonight we
played Life. Let's just say its changed a lot with the time.

There's insurance cards. Jobs which pay out when people land on
career-themed spaces. And these "LIFE" cards that you get for good deeds
(like visiting the in-laws, or buying a house). Then at the end, you
trade in you good deeds...for money (cuz we all know that's the most
important thing!).

We did misread the section on 'stocks'. Instead of only being allowed to
own one, we kept on buying. Then on every roll (except 10), someone got
money. We decided to call that the "Silicon Valley 1999 Rule", where
everyone wins in the stock market.

Oh, and we won't talk abour who won.

Tur-Duc-Hen
by brian @ 17:05:48 - [perma-link]

Yeah! It's a freakin' tur-duc-hen. I'd heard of them before, but never
seen it. Now here it is at andronico's.

It's a turkey, stuffed with a duck... Stuffed with a chicken. Yeah,
really!
