New Gadgets
by brian @ 23:49:41 - [perma-link]

I got a bunch of new stuff recently. First is the StroboPick guitar
tuner. Its killer. 2 LEDs strobe at the frequency of each of the open
string notes. Pluck the string, and tune until the string looks still in
the lights. It makes more sense when you see it.

Next up is the Oakley Thump. I was pretty skeptical when Connie brought
it home, but after using it a couple of times, I like it. It should be
great for snowboarding; my Burton/Apple ipod jacket didn't really work
very well.

Last the Griffin radioSHARK. In addition to looking kind of cool, it
lets me record AM and FM radio on my Mac. Now I can listen to Howard
Stern without having to wake up early. And as a bonus I can put it on my
iPod for when I walk the dogs.

Pick and pull
by brian @ 18:12:17 - [perma-link]

I went to the junkyard with josh to get a steering wheel for his bronco.
He found a pretty good one. This escort was the worst damage I saw.

Daisy in a hat

Daisy was laying on the back of the couch and I put my hat on her.

If you're not a geek, don't worry about it. My car hit 31337 today.

New Years Day Mudding
by brian @ 20:38:09 - [perma-link]

A few times a year this big muddy field near St Helens opens up for
trucks. Josh, Ryan and I took my Defender up to check it out.

When we got there, I pretty much just slid down the first hill. The
low gears wouldn't engage, and the wheels just spun. We limped it over
to the big bogs and watched some of the monster trucks go through.
"The Punisher" (the black truck on 44" tires, i think) went through it
like it was nothing. A few others made it, a few had to be pulled out.

After that we aired my tires down to about 20 psi. It was like night
and day. I made it up pretty much everything we tried. The low gears
eventually clicked (no clue what happened there), and then I could do
controlled (well, slightly more controlled) descents.

Then we had to go through the DEEP mud pit on the way out. I got
stuck, as did most of the trucks in front of (and behind) me. The mud
was up to door level. I climbed out on the hood and reached elbow-deep
into the mud to hook up the tow strap. We got yanked out, then called
it a day.

The defender was pretty much mud-encased. Outside, inside, underneath,
and in the engine bay (probably from the mud bow-wave that spilled over
the top). Everyone was commenting that I didn't have enough tire
underneath it, and they're pretty much right.

It needs a lift soon.

Hanging with the Pizzles
by brian @ 00:50:28 - [perma-link]

Actually Josh was over tonight, and we played Project Gotham Racing all
night. F50s and Mini Coopers and VWs and, uh, Skylines.

Now its just me and the dogs (Connie went to visit her family for a
couple of days, last second). I wore the Pumas bryan gave me, but I
made sure not to get them dirty. And I need a haircut. Badly. Maybe.

Mixi Missages
by brian @ 12:32:51 - [perma-link]

I might be interested in "Mixi-Fries", but I am pretty sure I don't want
to try the "ice cram".

I've seen it before, so it must be local.

Long train, not moving...
by brian @ 11:06:40 - [perma-link]

There it goes. This is taking forever.

That tanker car is full of corn syrup (or so it says). 40 tons of it.
