Shooting some 9-ball at the Loft
by brian @ 17:45:10 - [perma-link]

I'm up in San Fran, waiting for the furniture installers, who don't seem
to be making it today. The window was 2-4, and its already after 5. Good
thing I don't have anything better to do...

So Chris came over, we ordered pizza, and we're playing pool.

Guess I was wrong. They're here now, and only an hour and a half late.
Good thing traffic sucks here, or I would have left at 5.

Decompression
by brian @ 18:09:23 - [perma-link]

It's a burningman thing. Hippies everywhere.

Just kidding.

But kinda.

Burningman transplant
by brian @ 18:58:20 - [perma-link]

I'm not sure which camp this was, but it's getting dark, and I wanted a
pic.

Decompression is actually pretty cool. Its kind of like the party-side
of burningman without the desert. And I got in for free.

Good band
by brian @ 19:29:46 - [perma-link]

I can't quite place it. Drums, funky string instrument and a sax. And a
mouth-harp.

I like it.

Mark growden
by brian @ 21:00:02 - [perma-link]

This guy is cool. He does covers, but not like any covers i'v ever
heard. Only the lyrics give them away, but even then I'm not entirely
sure.

He's playing a banjo. He way yodlling through it, but now it's being
used in the more traditional manner.

And I like his use of cutout. And that's only one song.

Correction...
by brian @ 21:22:20 - [perma-link]

These are NOT covers.

But this guy kicks ass. Serioudly.

And he has the black rock desert cow warning sign cow on his Strat.
Yeah, so that's pretty cool.

I can Telnet from my Sidekick
by brian @ 16:35:39 - [perma-link]

I saw someone on www.dangerinfo.com who had made a Trillian plugin so
he can get into IRC over AIM with Trillian bridging the two. But I'm
on MacOSX, so that's useless to me. But the perl Net::AIM package
isn't useless to me!

I hacked up an IRC proxy, and could IRC over AIM from my sidekick. But
I don't use IRC, so its not particularly useful.

So today I wrote another one. Its a Telnet bot. I tell it "telnet
server port" and it makes a connection to the remote server and does
line-based proxying via AIM. So now I can Telnet. But there's not
much to do with telnet. I could MUD, but I don't. So now I have two
swell bots that are totally useless to me.

Out in Palo Alto
by brian @ 20:41:48 - [perma-link]

We're out drinking at the Empire Tap Room. NOLA's was packed, as usual,
so screw that. But we'll end up meeting some people there.

Gotta "stop being a geek". Bye.

Cherry Popper
by brian @ 21:02:29 - [perma-link]

Just did a shot. Not quite sure what was in there. Kinda lemony with a
cherry at the bottom. I'll consult bartender.com when I get home... Or
wake up...

We're back!
by brian @ 13:01:28 - [perma-link]

Actually, we gor back last night. Missing a flight sucks, but our flight
was pretty uneventful. I has a copy of Wired (nothing spectacular) and
"Four Wheeler" (ok, so I had one too many at the bar) to read on the
plane.

Four Wheeler was kind of a disappointment. Its very Jeep-centric. I
have a Land Rover Defender 90, so there was very little relevant info
for me. I need to get a new front bumper, as mine is tweaked from a
bounce on Cadillac Hill, but none of the vendors in the mag mentioned
Rover parts. Bummer.

Anyway, we're back.
